- Problem
- Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Forest River Prime Time recreational trailers. The Federal Placard incorrectly states that the tire pressure should be 65PSI when the correct tire pressure is 80PSI. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Risk
- The incorrect tire information may cause the operator to underinflate the tire, leading to premature tire wear and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Forest River will notify owners and will provide a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on July 24, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for this recall is 48-0756.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
The federal tire information placard on certain Prime Time recreational trailers incorrectly lists the recommended tire pressure as 65 PSI. The correct pressure is 80 PSI. The trailers therefore do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.
Following the wrong label may lead an operator to underinflate the tires. Underinflated tires wear out prematurely and raise the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners and provide a corrected Federal Placard at no cost. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025 and reference recall number 48-0756. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls as well.
