Mercedes-Benz S 560 Recall 18V407: Loose trunk power bars can cause fire or sudden loss of functions

NHTSA campaign 18V407, reported June 15, 2018, 1,701 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018 Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class vehicles may have electrical power bars inside the pre-fuse box in the trunk that were not secured properly. This can raise electrical resistance and create a risk of fire. Intermittent contact between the power bars could also cause a loss of vehicle functions, including engine operation, seat belt functions and the instrument cluster, which could increase the risk of a crash and injuries.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect the pre-fuse box and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. If you own one of these vehicles, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2018080001.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your car is affected and whether the repair is still outstanding.
