- Problem
- Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2019 Thor Four Winds, Chateau, Freedom Elite, Majestic, Outlaw, Quantum and Vegas motorhomes built on modified Ford E-450 chassis. The U-bolts on the rear axle that hold the leaf spring and rear axle together may have been insufficiently tightened.
- Risk
- The loose U-bolts may further loosen or break allowing the axle to separate and cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- TMC has notified owners, and dealers will tighten U-bolts to the proper torque, free of charge. The recall began on June 22, 2018. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000156.

What this recall means for you
Rear axle U-bolts that hold the leaf spring to the axle may not have been tightened to the proper torque. Over time these bolts can loosen further or break, which could allow the axle to separate and cause the driver to lose control of the motorhome, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will inspect and tighten the rear axle U-bolts to the correct torque at no cost to the owner. Owners can also contact Thor Motor Coach customer service at 1-877-855-2867 and reference recall RC000156. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your motorhome is affected.
