Van-Con 33803 Dual Rear-Wheel Recall 18V365: Roof panel seams may separate in a crash, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 18V365, reported May 18, 2018, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This 2016 Van-Con 33803 Dual Rear Wheel school bus was built with roof panel seams that were not correctly bonded. In a crash, those seams may separate, which means the bus does not meet federal school bus body joint strength requirements (FMVSS 221).

If the roof panels separate during a crash, occupants face an increased risk of injury. Because this is a school bus that carries children, the seam defect is a serious concern for anyone who rides or drives it.

Owners should contact Van-Con customer service at 1-732-356-8484 for information about the recall and the repair. The remedy is free at an authorized dealer. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
