Infiniti QX30 Recall 18V355: Seat Belt Anchor Could Detach in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 18V355, reported May 30, 2018, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A bolt securing the right-hand lower seat belt anchorage may have been installed incorrectly at the factory. If that happens, the anchorage can detach during a crash, which increases the risk of injury to the occupant.

The lower seat belt anchorage is the point where the belt attaches to the vehicle body, so its failure in a crash can leave the belt unable to properly restrain the person in that seat. The affected vehicles also do not fully meet certain federal safety standards covering seat belt anchorages, seat belt assemblies, and occupant crash protection.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer: the dealer will weld in a new retaining plate and secure the anchorage with a new anchor bolt. Owners may also contact Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
