Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 18V352: School Bus Brake Caliper Bolts May Loosen, Reducing Braking

NHTSA campaign 18V352, reported May 29, 2018, 2,767 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2019 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner school buses equipped with air disc brakes may have brake caliper mounting bolts that were not tightened enough. Over time, these bolts can loosen.

If the caliper mounting bolts come loose, braking performance may be reduced, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should not ignore this issue, especially on a vehicle that carries students.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the brake caliper mounting bolts and tighten them as necessary at no charge. You can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall FL-772), and check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
