IC Bus Cesb Recall 18V315: Emergency Window Release May Be Hard to Pull

NHTSA campaign 18V315, reported May 15, 2018, 7,859 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2018-2019 IC Bus CE and 2019 IC Bus RE school buses, the release handle on the emergency windows may require extra force to pull. In an emergency, this could slow or prevent passengers from exiting the bus, raising the risk of injury. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 217, which governs bus emergency exits and window retention and release.

The remedy is free. Dealers will apply dry lubricant to the latch assembly. Navistar will notify owners directly. If you own one of these buses, contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 18508. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and schedule the repair at an authorized dealer.
