What this recall means for you
Some school buses with an optional wheelchair lift may let the lift operate while the vehicle is in neutral or drive. The interlock wiring is missing a relay, so the safety interlock that should prevent lift use while the bus can move may not work.
If the bus can be moved while the wheelchair lift is in use, there is an increased risk of injury to passengers or others near the lift. Owners should check whether their bus is affected by entering its VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup or by contacting the manufacturer.
The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the wheelchair lift wiring and correct it as needed. Owners can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL-770) to confirm eligibility and schedule the repair.
