Jayco Precept Recall 18V297: Wiper Motor May Fail in Snow or Ice, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 18V297, reported May 4, 2018, 998 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The windshield wiper motor on certain 2018 Jayco Alante and 2018-2019 Jayco Precept vehicles may fail when the wipers are operated in heavy snow or ice. The windshield wiper system does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 104 for windshield wiping and washing systems.

If the wiper system fails, the driver's view through the windshield can be reduced, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially when driving in winter weather.

Jayco will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the wiper module with a new relay pack at no cost to you. Contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137 (Jayco recall number 9903378), and check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
