Ducati Panigale V4 Recall 18V238: Fuel May Spray Out When Tank Cap Is Opened, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V238, reported April 16, 2018, 692 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 motorcycles have a fuel tank that can release fuel under pressure when the tank cap is opened. Fuel may spray out of the tank during refueling or when the cap is removed.

If fuel spills out when the tank is opened, the risk of a fire increases in the presence of an ignition source. Owners should be cautious about opening the tank cap around heat, sparks, or open flames.

Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will rework the fuel tank cap to improve the tank's breathing capacity. The repair is free of charge. Owners can contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446 and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
