Isuzu NPR Recall 18V235: Brake Switch May Detach, Causing Lights and Acceleration Failure

NHTSA campaign 18V235, reported April 13, 2018, 80 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The brake switch and its nylon retainer may not be properly secured to the steel brake pedal bracket. If the switch detaches, the brake lights can stay on whether or not the brake pedal is pressed, the shift interlock may stop working, and the accelerator input can be disabled, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the seating of the retainer and re-seat or replace the retainer clip if needed. The repair is free of charge at an authorized Isuzu dealer. Owners can also contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638 (recall V1801) and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
