Forest River Crossfit Recall 18V233: Incorrect weight rating label could lead to overloading and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 18V233, reported April 16, 2018, 201 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification label on certain 2017-2019 Crossfit recreational vehicles lists a rear axle Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) higher than the rating set by the chassis manufacturer. Because the label overstates how much weight the rear axle can carry, an operator could load the vehicle beyond its safe limit, which increases the risk of a crash.

Forest River has notified owners and will provide a corrected Federal Certification Label at no cost. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8590 and reference recall number 225-0699. The recall began April 25, 2018.

Until you receive and install the corrected label, avoid loading your vehicle near its rear axle limit, and check your VIN for open recalls at NHTSA's website.
