Forest River Surveyor Recall 18V222: Wrong tire pressure on placard can cause overinflation

NHTSA campaign 18V222, reported April 6, 2018, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification label (placard) on certain 2018 Surveyor trailers lists the wrong tire size, rim size, and required tire pressure. The placard says the trailer uses ST225/75R15D tires needing 65 PSI on 15-inch rims, but the trailer actually has ST205/75R14C tires that need 50 PSI on 14-inch rims. The trailer also does not meet the tire selection and rim requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110.

If an owner follows the incorrect placard, the tires can be overinflated. Overinflated tires can wear out prematurely and raise the risk of a crash.

Forest River has notified owners and is providing a corrected federal placard free of charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-3119, extension 205, referencing recall number 47-0698. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
