Futura LOW Loader Recall 18V210: Trailer Drawbar May Detach, Cutting Brake and Light Wires

NHTSA campaign 18V210, reported March 30, 2018, 204 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2016, 2017 and 2018 Futura Low Loader trailers, the left and right drawbars can disconnect from the front rail of the trailer chassis. A loose drawbar can swing and sever the trailer's brake and light wiring.

If the wiring is cut, the trailer brakes or brake lights can fail, which increases the risk of a crash. The trailers also fail to meet federal lighting and brake system safety standards.

Futura Trailers Ltd will notify owners. Authorized dealers will install an additional aluminum angle bracket at the junction of the left and right drawbars at no cost to you. The recall began May 30, 2018. Owners can contact Futura customer service at 1-855-744-3877, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
