What this recall means for you
Some 2018 Toyota Prius C vehicles sold in Puerto Rico may have been built without the label that shows the front passenger airbag and recommended child seating positions. The label was supposed to be attached during assembly, and its absence means the vehicles do not meet federal occupant crash protection requirements.
Without the label, occupants may not know the proper restraint guidance for the front passenger seat, such as where children should sit. Following the correct guidance is what reduces the risk of injury if a crash occurs, so a missing label could increase that risk.
Toyota will mail the replacement removable labels to all known owners at no cost. Owners can call Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 (Toyota recall number J0L) with questions. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
