Supreme Iner-City Recall 18V168: Fire extinguisher may clog or fail to discharge in a fire

NHTSA campaign 18V168, reported March 9, 2018, 33,321 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Supreme vans and trucks from model years 2003 and 2004 are equipped with Kidde plastic-handle or push-button fire extinguishers that may become clogged. A clogged extinguisher may not discharge as expected, or may require excessive force to activate. In certain models, the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.

If a fire starts and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Owners should check whether their vehicle is affected and contact Supreme or Kidde to arrange a replacement. The replacement extinguisher is provided free of charge. Contact Supreme customer service at 1-800-352-4921, Kidde customer service at 1-855-262-3540, or visit www.kidde.com and select "Product Safety Recall." You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
