Kaufman Double Deck CAR Hauler Recall 18V125: Wheel and Hub Can Detach From Trailer, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V125, reported February 20, 2018, 189 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trailer axles may have incorrect spindles. A spindle can fail, causing a wheel and hub to detach from the trailer while it is in use.

If a wheel and hub come off, the trailer can become unstable or lose control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and avoid towing the affected trailer until the axles have been checked.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the axles and replace any with incorrect spindles at no cost to you. Kaufman will notify owners directly, or you can contact Kaufman customer service at 1-336-790-2756 or 1-336-790-6800. You can also check your trailer's VIN for open recalls.
