IC Bus Cesb Recall 18V124: Fuel pump relay can fail and stall bus, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 18V124, reported February 20, 2018, 1,047 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A relay that controls the propane booster pump and scavenge pump can intermittently fail on these school buses. When it does, the fuel pump stops and the engine can stall while the bus is operating.

A stall removes power at a time when the driver may need to move or maintain control of the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially for buses carrying students.

The repair is free. Navistar will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the LPDM relay at no cost. To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN at a recall lookup site or contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825, referencing recall number 18501.
