Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Recall 18V088: Low Tire Warning May Not Light Up, Risking Crash

NHTSA campaign 18V088, reported February 1, 2018, 190 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain convertible models with 20-inch wheels may have their tire pressure monitoring system set incorrectly. As a result, the warning light on the instrument panel may not illuminate when a tire is 25% below the recommended cold inflation pressure, so the driver may not be alerted to a seriously underinflated tire. The vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 138 for tire pressure monitoring systems.

If a low tire is not detected, continued driving can lead to tire tread separation, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the tire pressure monitoring system setting to correct the illumination threshold at no cost to you. Owners will be notified by Land Rover, but you can also contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 (recall number N164). Check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
