Wayfarer 24 QW Recall 18V060: Fire extinguisher may clog or fail to discharge in a fire

NHTSA campaign 18V060, reported January 22, 2018, 24 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Kidde plastic-handle or push-button 'Pindicator' fire extinguishers installed in these recreational vehicles may become clogged, so they fail to discharge as expected or need excessive force to operate. In some models the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury, and it can then no longer work.

If a fire breaks out and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Check the affected extinguisher model list in the official NHTSA notice before assuming your unit is covered.

The replacement extinguisher is free. Contact Kidde customer service at 1-855-262-3540 or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall," or call Wayfarer customer service at 1-256-356-8661. You can also check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA's website.
