Indian Roadmaster Recall 18V055: Water May Keep Brake Light On, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 18V055, reported January 16, 2018, 7,392 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2017 Indian Roadmaster motorcycles may have water entering the trunk wiring harness. This can cause the brake light to stay illuminated even when the brakes are not applied.

If the brake light stays on when you are not braking, drivers behind you may not realize when you are actually slowing down, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners will be notified by Indian, and the trunk wiring harness will be replaced with an updated version that has sealing plugs in the connectors.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Check your VIN for open recalls and contact Indian customer service at 1-877-204-3697, referencing recall number I-18-01, with any questions.
