Forest River Rockwood Recall 18V051: Tongue Jack Can Move Unexpectedly, Risking Crash or Injury

NHTSA campaign 18V051, reported January 12, 2018, 1,349 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The laminated plastic touch pad on the Smart-Jack power tongue jack can crack or separate. This can let water enter the control, which may cause the jack to retract or extend unexpectedly.

If the tongue jack moves on its own, there is an increased risk of a crash or injury. Owners should contact the manufacturer or a Lippert customer service line to confirm their trailer is covered by the recall.

The repair is free: a Forest River or Lippert dealer will replace the power tongue jack at no charge. Contact Forest River customer service at the number for your model line, or Lippert at 1-574-538-4514 or [email protected], and check your VIN for open recalls.
