What this recall means for you
Certain fire extinguishers installed on these trucks, made by Kidde with plastic handles or push-button 'Pindicator' valves, may become clogged. A clogged extinguisher may not discharge as expected or may require excessive force to activate. In some models, the nozzle may also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury, and the extinguisher may become inoperable.
The danger is that in the event of a fire, a faulty extinguisher may not work properly, which can increase the risk of injury. Owners should contact Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America at 1-877-711-0707 or Kidde at 1-855-262-3540, or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall," to confirm whether their extinguisher is affected and to arrange a replacement.
The replacement fire extinguisher is provided free of charge. Owners can also check their vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
