Forest River Cherokee Recall 18V034: Wiring error can overheat and cause electrical fire

NHTSA campaign 18V034, reported January 11, 2018, 223 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain travel trailers, a 14 gauge and a 12 gauge neutral wire for the 110V air conditioning were connected to the same lug on the 120V panel neutral bus bar. The smaller wire can end up carrying a heavier load than it is rated for, which may cause it to overheat and fail.

This failure raises the risk of an electrical fire. If you own an affected trailer, do not ignore the notice. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-260-499-2100 and reference recall number 17A-0609 to confirm your trailer is covered.

The repair is free. An authorized dealer will relocate the affected wire to another 14 gauge terminal as needed. You can also check your VIN for any open recalls.
