- Problem
- Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010-2018 H3-41, H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 Commuter, X3-45 VIP, and X3-45 VIP Entertainer vehicles, equipped with certain Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. - Risk
- In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Prevost will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2018. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046, or Kidde customer service toll free at 1-855-262-3540 or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Prevost's number for this recall is SR17-31.

What this recall means for you
Certain Kidde plastic-handle or push-button 'Pindicator' fire extinguishers installed in these buses may become clogged, so the extinguisher may not discharge as expected or may require excessive force to activate. In some models the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.
If a fire occurs and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Owners should contact Kidde customer service at 1-855-262-3540 or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall" to arrange a replacement extinguisher, which is provided free of charge. Owners can also reach Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 with questions; Prevost's recall number is SR17-31. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2018.
