Holiday Rambler Ambassador Recall 17V734: Fire extinguisher may fail to discharge or nozzle may detach

NHTSA campaign 17V734, reported November 17, 2017, 7,399 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain diesel motorhomes are equipped with Kidde plastic-handle or push-button fire extinguishers that may become clogged, so the extinguisher may not discharge as expected or may need excessive force to activate. In some models, the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.

If a fire starts and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Owners will be notified by REV Recreation Group and told to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, provided free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 18, 2018. For questions, contact REV customer service at 1-800-509-3417, or Kidde at 1-855-262-3540 or www.kidde.com (click "Product Safety Recall"). Check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls, and see the full list of affected extinguisher models in the NHTSA notice.
