Isuzu NPR Recall 17V726: Fire extinguisher may clog or its nozzle may detach

NHTSA campaign 17V726, reported November 14, 2017, 69,138 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The plastic-handle fire extinguisher installed in these trucks, made by Walter Kidde (models FC10 and FC110), can become clogged. A clogged unit may not discharge as expected, or may require excessive force to activate. In some models the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.

If a fire breaks out and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Owners will be notified and should contact Kidde to get a replacement extinguisher free of charge. You can reach Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638 or Walter Kidde customer service at 1-855-262-3540, or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall" to order a replacement. Isuzu's recall number is V1705, and the recall is expected to begin in December 2017. This recall also covers extinguishers provided as a remedy for earlier Isuzu recall 15V778. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
