Peterbilt 320 Recall 17V705: Undersized Parking Brake May Let Truck Roll Away

NHTSA campaign 17V705, reported November 10, 2017, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The parking brake chamber on certain vehicles may be too small. Because of this, the parking brake may not hold the vehicle as intended, and the vehicle can move unexpectedly. The problem also means the vehicle does not meet federal air brake safety requirements.

A vehicle that moves unexpectedly raises the risk of a crash or of injury to anyone in its path. Stay clear of the vehicle and avoid relying on the parking brake alone until the repair is done.

The repair is free. Dealers will replace the rear axle parking brake chambers at no cost to you, and the manufacturer will notify owners. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls, or contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000 and reference recall number 1117E.
