Phoenix Zeus 300 Recall 17V698: Overloaded Vans May Cause Rear Tire Failure and Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 17V698, reported November 3, 2017, 45 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2017 Phoenix Zeus shuttle vans, built on a Ford E-350 chassis, may exceed their gross axle weight rating and gross vehicle weight rating when fully loaded. These vehicles also do not meet federal tire and wheel standards for this condition. When loaded to maximum passenger capacity, the rear tires may fail.

A rear tire failure while the vehicle is fully loaded increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be careful not to exceed the vehicle's passenger capacity while this issue remains unresolved.

Phoenix will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect and replace all of the vehicle's wheels and tires with ones that have a higher load rating. The repair is free of charge. You can contact Phoenix customer service at 1-909-987-0815, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
