Infiniti QX30 Recall 17V691: Driver Airbag Can Deploy Unexpectedly

NHTSA campaign 17V691, reported November 1, 2017, 17,507 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The driver's airbag may deploy unexpectedly when static electricity discharges through the steering components. This can happen if the airbag clockspring is broken, because the steering components are not sufficiently grounded.

An inadvertent driver airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury and a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk while driving.

The repair is free: dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Nissan will notify owners, but you can also contact Infiniti customer service at 1-800-622-6200, option 7, and check your VIN for open recalls.
