What this recall means for you
The rear impact guards on certain 2008-2011 Hutchinson and Tremcar 406 B-train pup trailers were made from aluminum alloy that is not strong enough. As a result, the guards may not meet federal rear impact guard requirements (FMVSS 223).
If a vehicle strikes the back of the trailer, a weak rear impact guard may not stop a car from sliding underneath the trailer. This increases the risk of serious injury to the occupants of the car.
Tremcar is notifying owners, and authorized dealers will replace the rear impact guards free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2017. Owners can contact Tremcar customer service at 1-800-363-2158, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
