Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 Recall 17V653: Low-beam headlights may aim too low, cutting visibility at night

NHTSA campaign 17V653, reported October 16, 2017, 8 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2018 GLA 250 4Matic vehicles may have low-beam headlights set to an incorrect aim. The light may not reach as far down the road as the federal lighting standard requires, so the vehicle does not fully meet FMVSS 108, the federal safety standard for lamps and reflective devices.

Reduced headlight range can limit how far ahead you can see obstacles, pedestrians, or hazards in the road, especially at night or in poor weather, which can increase the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the headlight adjustment and correct it as needed. Contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-877-496-3691 (recall number 2017100009), or check your VIN for open recalls and schedule a visit with an authorized dealer.
