Audi Q5 Recall 17V622: Corroded heater connector can melt wires and cause fire

NHTSA campaign 17V622, reported October 5, 2017, 216,913 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Corrosion inside the electrical connector for the auxiliary heater can cause the heater wires to overheat or melt. Over time, this contact corrosion creates a path for heat buildup in the wiring.

Melted wires can increase the risk of a fire. Owners should be aware of this hazard, especially because the problem develops inside the connector and may not show obvious warning signs.

Audi will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the auxiliary heater and, as necessary, update the software at no cost to you. You can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your car is affected.
