Prevost XL2 Recall 17V618: Fuel tank may fall off, risking stalls and crashes

NHTSA campaign 17V618, reported October 4, 2017, 3,163 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Prevost motor coaches from model years 2008 to 2009 may have gaps where the fuel tank cradle attaches to the coach frame. Over time, the bolts holding the cradle can loosen and fail, which could allow the diesel fuel tank to fall from the vehicle.

If the tank separates, it can become a road hazard for other drivers, and the coach may stall. Either situation increases the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Prevost, and authorized dealers will correct the fuel tank cradle mounting at no cost. Owners can contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 and reference recall number SR17-28. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
