Braun Braunability MXV Recall 17V616: Front Air Bag May Deploy With Wrong Force in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 17V616, reported October 3, 2017, 308 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 wheelchair-accessible conversion vehicles may have a front seat position sensor that can come loose when the driver or front passenger seat is moved to its farthest rearward position. If the sensor is dislodged, the air bag control unit may not accurately calculate the force needed to deploy the frontal air bag in a crash.

If the front air bag does not deploy with the proper force, occupants face an increased risk of injury in a crash. The recall covers the affected vehicles, and the manufacturer, Braun Corporation, has been notifying owners.

The repair is free. Dealers will modify the seat base pedestals to provide the clearance the seat position sensor needs. Owners can contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
