Forest River Forester Recall 17V612: Wrong tire label may lead to poor tire maintenance and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 17V612, reported October 2, 2017, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This recall covers certain motorhomes whose federal tire and loading placard incorrectly states the vehicle has single rear wheels and tires, when it actually has dual rear wheels and tires. The placard therefore gives inaccurate information about the vehicle's wheels and tires, which does not meet federal wheel and rim safety requirements.

Because the placard is wrong, the operator may not properly maintain the tires and/or wheels. Improperly maintained tires can lead to poor handling and may increase the risk of a crash.

Forest River will notify owners and provide a corrected placard free of charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-206-7600 and reference recall number 34-0528. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
