Wabash Converter Dolly Recall 17V603: Counterweight Tube Can Detach While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 17V603, reported September 27, 2017, 73 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain converter dollies, the fasteners that attach the counterweight tube to the dolly body can wear or loosen over time. This can allow the counterweight tube to detach from the body while the dolly is in motion.

If the counterweight detaches while the dolly is moving, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should take this recall seriously and have the issue addressed promptly.

The repair is free. Wabash will notify owners, and authorized dealers will weld the counterweight tube permanently to the structure at no cost. Owners can contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404 and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
