BMW C Evolution Recall 17V467: Front Rims May Lack Size Markings, Risking Wrong Tire Fit

NHTSA campaign 17V467, reported July 21, 2017, 37 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 BMW C Evolution and C650 GT scooters have front rims that may not be marked with the required rim type and DOT designation. Because the rim size is not shown, a tire of the wrong size could be mounted on it. That can affect how the scooter handles and raise the risk of a crash.

BMW will notify owners and dealers will replace any front rims that are not correctly marked, at no cost to you. Interim notices warning of the safety risk were mailed September 26, 2017, and owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available.

Check whether your scooter is affected by looking up your VIN for open recalls, and contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 with any questions.
