What this recall means for you
Certain Nissan Versa vehicles have a driver-side frontal airbag inflator that can rupture. The propellant inside can degrade over long periods of exposure to moderate humidity, temperature, and temperature cycling, and the inflator may then break apart when the airbag deploys.
If the inflator ruptures, metal fragments can strike the driver or other occupants, which may cause serious injury or death.
Nissan will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the driver airbag inflator with a new one made by a different supplier, free of charge. Contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
