What this recall means for you
This recall covers certain 2017 Rockwood travel trailers in which the Federal Placard, the VIN label, has an incorrect ninth-place check digit. The trailers do not meet the federal certification requirements in 49 CFR Part 567.
The main risk is administrative rather than a direct crash hazard. The wrong check digit can prevent the trailer from being registered correctly, which can lead to improper licensing and make it harder to locate the vehicle if a future safety recall is issued.
Owners should contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-5164 and reference recall number 10C-07142017-0480. Forest River will notify owners and provide a corrected Federal Placard free of charge. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
