RAM 1500 Recall 17V434: Fuel Tank Valve May Leak Fuel in a Rollover, Raising Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 17V434, reported July 7, 2017, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A part of the fuel tank, the fuel tank control valve, may be broken on certain 2017 Ram 1500 trucks. If the truck becomes inverted, such as in a rollover, the valve could let fuel leak out. Leaking fuel near an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire, and the vehicles do not meet federal fuel system integrity requirements (FMVSS 301).

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tanks at no cost. The recall began on August 10, 2017. Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number T45.

To check whether your truck is affected, look up your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on the NHTSA or Chrysler websites, and contact an authorized dealer if your truck is included.
