Vactor Jetter Recall 17V367: Parking Brake May Fail to Hold, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 17V367, reported June 5, 2017, 37 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2017 Vactor Jetter vehicles may experience an unexpected rise in engine idle under certain conditions. When this happens, the engine can overpower the parking brake, so the parking brake may not keep the vehicle stationary.

If the parking brake cannot hold the vehicle still, there is an increased risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this hazard when parking the vehicle.

The repair is free. Vactor will install diodes to prevent the idle from rising, and authorized dealers will perform the work at no cost to you. Owners who have not yet received notice can contact Vactor customer service at 1-847-622-7069, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
