Keystone Springdale Recall 17V339: Wrong weight ratings on label could lead to overloading and crashes

NHTSA campaign 17V339, reported May 24, 2017, 464 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The Federal Identification Tag on certain Springdale recreational vehicles (2012 through 2018 model years, model 303BH) lists a Gross Axle Weight Rating that is 800 pounds per axle higher than it should be. Because of this error, the Cargo Carrying Capacity label is also incorrect, and the vehicle does not meet the federal certification requirements in 49 CFR Part 567.

The wrong rating can lead owners to load the vehicle beyond its true capacity. An overloaded RV may have degraded vehicle control and a higher risk of a crash.

Keystone RV Company will notify owners. Authorized dealers will replace the label with a new Federal Placard showing the correct GAWR and a new Cargo Carrying Capacity label, free of charge. Owners can contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369 (recall number 17-289), and should check their vehicle identification number for any open recalls.

Problem
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Springdale recreational vehicles, model 303BH. Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will provide a new Federal Placard with the correct GAWR and a new CCC label, free of charge. The recall began on June 20, 2017. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 17-289.
