What this recall means for you
The Federal Placard on these Cardinal recreational trailers overstates the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) by 840 pounds per axle, and the Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) label is incorrect as a result. Because the listed capacity is too high, the trailer may be loaded beyond what its axles can safely carry.
An overloaded trailer can affect vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should check the placard and CCC label on their trailer and avoid exceeding the weight limits shown on the corrected labels once they are replaced.
Forest River will notify owners of this recall. Dealers will provide a new Federal Placard with the correct GAWR and a new CCC label at no cost. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-206-7600, referencing recall number 15-05192017-0412.
