Columbia Aliner Ascape Recall 17V330: Propane Tanks May Fall Off Trailer, Risking Crash or Fire

NHTSA campaign 17V330, reported May 19, 2017, 40 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2018 Aliner Ascape trailers have liquid propane (LP) gas bottle trays that can come loose from the frame. The trays were attached with the wrong rivets, so they may not stay secured to the trailer.

If the LP gas bottles fall from the trailer while it is being towed, the loose cylinders can cause a crash or a fire. Owners should take this seriously and stop using the propane system until the trays are secured.

The repair is free. Columbia Northwest will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will secure the LP gas bottle trays with the correct hardware at no charge. Owners can contact Columbia Northwest customer service at 1-724-237-5227 for more information, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
