Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX Recall 17V317: School Bus Seat Lap Belts May Not Restrain Riders in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 17V317, reported May 11, 2017, 152 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some school buses in this recall have occupant seat lap belts anchored to the seat instead of the bus structure. If a crash occurs, a belt anchored this way may not properly hold the seat occupant in place, which raises the risk of injury.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the seats and modify the belt anchorage if needed. Owners were mailed an interim notice on June 15, 2017, and a second notice will be sent when the remedy is available. The recall is expected to begin on July 9, 2017.

If you own or operate one of these buses, contact DTNA Customer Service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number FL-736. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer.
