Audi A7 Recall 17V293: Side Curtain Airbags May Not Deploy in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 17V293, reported May 1, 2017, 17,694 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2017 Audi A7 vehicles have head curtain airbags that may not deploy properly in a crash. The affected airbags do not meet federal ejection-mitigation requirements.

If a head curtain airbag fails to deploy correctly, an unbelted passenger faces a higher risk of injury in a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and schedule the repair as soon as notice arrives.

The remedy is free: an authorized Audi dealer will replace the affected head curtain airbags at no cost. Audi will notify owners, and the recall was expected to begin June 29, 2017. You can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, and you should check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is included.
