Forest River Wildwood Recall 17V282: Wrong tire and weight data on label may cause crash risk

NHTSA campaign 17V282, reported April 26, 2017, 71 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2018 recreational trailers may have a Federal Placard that inaccurately lists the tire and rim combinations installed on the trailer. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) shown on the placard may also be incorrect. As a result, these trailers do not fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 on tire selection and rims.

The wrong information could lead an owner to install an incorrect replacement tire or rim, overinflate a tire, or overload the trailer. Any of these can increase the risk of a crash.

Forest River will notify owners and provide a corrected Federal Placard free of charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 and reference recall number 51-04242017-0393. The recall began on May 17, 2017. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
