Mercedes-Benz Metris Recall 17V244: Front Seatbelts May Not Tighten in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 17V244, reported April 10, 2017, 305 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain front seat belt pretensioners may not function properly. A pretensioner is the device that tightens the belt quickly during a crash to hold occupants in place. If it fails, the front seat occupants may not be adequately restrained, which increases the risk of injury in a collision.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will replace the front seat belts at no cost to the owner. Owners were notified by mail, with an initial notice sent in June 2017 and a follow-up in July 2017 confirming the repair was available.

If you have this vehicle, contact Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 or visit an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule the repair. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
