Thor Motor Coach A.C.E. Recall 17V239: Hitch label overstates capacity; overloading risks damage or separation

NHTSA campaign 17V239, reported April 10, 2017, 148 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The weight rating label on the tow hitch shows a 10,000 lb capacity, but the hitch is actually rated for 8,000 lbs. Owners who load the hitch up to the labeled figure could exceed what it can safely carry.

If the hitch is loaded to the capacity shown on the label, it may damage the motorhome or disconnect from the tow vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free: the manufacturer will notify owners and send corrected labels at no charge. Contact Thor Motor Coach customer service at 1-877-500-1020 to arrange a replacement, and check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
